ALEA is in the process of developing the innovative Aqua Bike for the BALNOVA sports physiotherapy and diagnostics center. BALNOVA is currently under construction and will be completed in 2026. The state-of-the-art bike will be used for rehabilitation and training. Building on Bad Orb’s spa town tradition, the Aqua Bike exercises will also utilize saline’s positive effect on health for rehabilitation. The Aqua Bike can be used either in an Aqua Tub filled with saline or out of the water.
ALEA is currently looking into the options for a patent. The design of the Aqua Bike is based on BALNOVA’s triangular architecture, while the frame geometry is inspired by high-end racing bikes. To create the prototype, the design team worked with an elite-level carbon-fiber specialist from Italy. The company is a renowned producer of components for yachts and sports cars. Carbon has the advantage that it is resistant to salt water and is extremely lightweight.
